Book Recommendation: Classroom Managment

Classroom management sets the tone for a productive learning environment. Research shows a strong correlation between good classroom management and student success, and this resource is an excellent resource for all teachers at every level in their career.  A management strategy needs to adapt to different circumstances and students...not every strategy works with every kid!

Selected Readings:
Robert J. Marzano and Jana S. Marzano
By using research-based strategies combining appropriate levels of dominance and cooperation and an awareness of student needs, teachers can build positive classroom dynamics.

Whole Brain Teaching

created by Chris Biffle
One of my favorite approaches, Whole Brain Teaching, is a great system when used with the research in mind.  It is adaptable for many age groups, and pairs hand motions and call backs. Any and all Classroom Management approaches work best when reviewed DAILY for the first 2-4 weeks of a teacher implementation(even when starting later in the year), and periodically after that.  Perhaps any time a new student is added to a class would be a great time to review expectations AND teach the new student what is expected.

Managing Lesson Plans in Google Drive

I have always heard if you fail to plan, you plan to fail...I never really believed it until I became a teacher.

Planning is a huge part of Teaching, and a crucial step is sharing the resulting Lesson Plans with administration.  Before school started, I led a Google Drive Basics rotating session, and wanted to follow up with a refresher video in case anyone needs it.  If you would like help with the planning process, please contact me at trmenzie@okcps.org to schedule Coaching Sessions!

Here's the fun Hyper Doc that has various video tutorials for all kinds of different tasks we use Google Drive. You can click on the square with the task you wish to work on and it will launch a video showing how to complete that task. There is no sound, but I love how the mouse is really easy to follow.

Please consider meeting with me to begin a Coaching Cycle, click above to see my schedule and book a time.
